Located in historic Kinerma, a small village found midway between Lake Onega and Lake Ladoga, this little guest house is a good choice for visitors wishing to stay in a typically Russian wooden house. Kinerma is as much an open air museum as a village, its collection of traditional wooden structures showcasing the best of Karelian architecture. 

One of the village’s seventeen wooden cottages has been converted into a guest house which can accommodate up to ten people. It comprises four rooms, three doubles plus a larger converted loft space which can sleep four. The cottage is heated by a traditional Russian stove and of course has indoor bathroom facilities. Meals can be provided, offering visitors the chance not only to sample the local Karelian cuisine but also to learn how to cook typical dishes of the region.

Nearby you can visit the 18th century chapel of Our Lady of Smolensk and also try out a black banya, featuring a hole in the ceiling through which smoke can escape. The village museum helps to put in context what you have experienced for yourself.
