First-aid Kit Checklist
The following is a list of items you should consider including in your first-aid kit. Please consult your pharmacist for various brands available.
Essentials
- Adhesive tape
- Bandages and safety pins
- Elasticised support bandages – for knees, ankles etc
- Gauze swabs
- Non-adhesive dressings
- Wound Closure Strips
- Scissors (small)
- Sterile alcohol wipes
- Plasters (band-aids, blister plasters)
- Sutures
- Thermometer (note that mercury thermometers are prohibited by airlines)
- Tweezers
Medications
- Diarrhoea and Nausea medication
- Antifungal cream or powder – for fungal skin infections and thrush
- Antihistamines – for allergies, e.g., hay fever; insect bites or stings, motion sickness
- Antiseptic (such as povidone-iodine) – for cuts and grazes
- Cold and flu tablets, throat lozenges and nasal decongestants
- Painkillers (e.g. aspirin or paracetamol)
Miscellaneous
- Calamine lotion, sting relief or Aloe Vera – to ease irritation from sunburn and insect bites or stings
- Eye drops
- Re-hydration mixture – to prevent dehydration, due to severe diarrhoea
- Your own personal medications and prescriptions
