Terelj National Park day trip – enjoy hiking, horse-riding, visit a Nomad family
Following breakfast, our first adventure in Mongolia will take us on a drive to the breathtaking Terelj National Park, located 80km (50 miles) northeast of Ulan Bator. Here, we will spend the day immersed in the magnificent alpine scenery, offering fantastic opportunities for hiking, rock climbing, and horse riding in this truly pristine and photogenic setting. Our exploration will lead us to the remarkable Turtle Rock formation, followed by a hike to the striking Aryabal Monastery after enjoying lunch at the camp.
To further enrich our experience, we will engage with Mongolian culture by visiting a local nomadic family. Here, we'll gain insights into their traditional way of life as they share their living arrangements and the significance of dairy farming in their culture. After breakfast today, we hit the road once more, heading to Hustain Nuruu National Park. Here, our quest is to spot Przewalski horses (takhi), considered the forefathers of all horses worldwide. If you have binoculars, be sure to bring them to enhance your appreciation of the remarkable natural surroundings. Our visit will also include a screening of a short documentary and an exploration of the museum. We'll spend the night in a ger camp.
