Russia’s Most Beautiful Village wants ‘to hide’ from the tourists

Russia’s Most Beautiful Village Kinerma, Republic of Karelia can’t cope with the growing stream of tourists.
Residents of Kinerma village in the Republic of Karelia complain about the impossibility to receive such a large number of guests – as a number of tourists coming to the village exceeds its recreational opportunities.
The local people ask the authorities occasionally to close down the road barrier/sign designating the entry to the Russia’s Most Beautiful Village Kinerma to reduce the stream of tourists coming to the village to let it maintain its status.
Minister of Culture in Karelia commented this idea: ‘It became a problem in a good way. However, in reality we need to deal with this growing stream of tourists’. According to him by the end of 2016, the authorities installed 506 waymarks and road signs for the car travellers visiting the Republic of Karelia.
Seven of 17 village buildings are the recognized architectural monuments.
